This one is a good old memory...
The Day me and 9 mates (or was it ten?!?) won the trip of a lifetime (well, not as good as my upcoming venture but anyway) to the Melbourne Grand Prix... The 2004 race in fact - 2 years ago exactly. How did we win it? Well, I'd be lying if we did not milk and manipulate the system for all it was worth! (well done lads).
Pretty much straight after we touched down and got to the hotel, it was beers all round. Some of the lads went shopping (ashamedly me included), whilst the rest of the crew went for more beers. That night we all headed down to the casino, well a few of us anyway, and quite interestingly in the Sports Bar there, well it was more than interesting, because one young femme fatale took to me good ol' mate Andy's nipple - of course he loved every minute of it, even if she was well and trully a bit of a minga. Nice girl tho! This was after 2 full cartons and around 15 family sized pizzas were consumed watching the footy - Essendon were playing but I cant remember the other team - definitely wasn't the Roos because I definitely would have remembered. Probably someone crap like Geelong or Richmond or something.
The race incident # 1 - getting caught photographing the Jetstar promo girls (see photo album for full pictographic journey). Incident # 2 - Stuey falling asleep next to the track!! What the? WHILE THE V8 RACE WAS ON!!! If that doesn't indicate the amount of alcohol he consumed, or his lack of sleep thereof, I have no idea what will to be honest.
After that we pretty much watched the race and when we got back to the hotel, we ah, well broke lamps and we also tabbed up about $100 worth of crownies to Joshy's room (sorry big fella), you had to laugh about it tho, and ah, we did. That night was pretty hazy, but I can remember the spray "Obi" gave me, haha, I think I cried, well, after I told him someone ate all the chocolate in the fridge as well...
On to the airport where about 5 of us from memory kept drinking in the morning, and drank on the way home on the plane too (warm beer, YUK). I got home at 1pm and was pissed for a further 5 days. An awesome weekend tho, and one whereby I said almost the most stupid thing ever...
"Are there any McDonalds in Melbourne?!?"
Yep, I did.
What a weekend though, and one I or the boys wont forget in a hurry... To the ladies who jumped under my wing for photos at almost every request on race day, I thank you from the cockles of my heart... To the race organisers, thanks for the floating bridge across the lake, that was pretty trippy and the best bridge since Sylvester Stallone got his face punched in by Tommy Gunn... To Mark Webber, well, you suck! Yes your Australian but stop being a big-head and do something!
